Design Brief
This editorial design is built around the theme of water, so the palette centers on water-associated colors. However, instead of relying on a single blue, the layout uses multiple tones and shades of blue to avoid a flat or monotonous feel and to create more visual rhythm across the spreads.
To add symbolic meaning, the water flowing from the faucet is rendered in a muted, cloudy black. This deliberate contrast represents the underlying message of the magazine content, turning the “water” motif into a more conceptual visual element rather than a purely literal one.
On Page 2 and Page 3 (the infographic), the titles were treated as expressive design features. A 3D effect and flowing, water-like styling were added to make the typography feel dynamic—almost as if it is moving like running water. Overall, while the design stays true to the water theme through color, the solution focuses on making a potentially straightforward subject feel more engaging, bold, and visually memorable.
